Premier League's most valuable squads

Sports Mole takes a look at the most valuable squads in the Premier League.

Last season, Liverpool became the first English side since Chelsea in 2011-12 to win the Champions League, with Spanish clubs dominating the competition in recent years.

There is no question that the Premier League is one of the leading divisions in world football, though, with some of the best players in the game currently operating in England's top flight.

As a result, there are a number of Premier League clubs with extremely high market values. With that in mind, Sports Mole looks at the current valuations of all 20 squads in England's top flight.

In truth, it is not a surprise to see Manchester City at the top of the list. Pep Guardiola's side have won the title in the last two seasons, and there is still a strong argument that they have the best squad in English football despite Liverpool running away with the league this season. Raheem Sterling is actually the second-most valuable player in the game behind Kylian Mbappe, while Kevin De Bruyne is also rated over £100m.

Liverpool's presence in second is also not a surprise with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane rated very high, but the fact that Tottenham Hotspur are above both Chelsea and Manchester United is somewhat of a shock. Spurs reached last season's Champions League final but have struggled for form this season, while Chelsea and United are currently battling for fourth spot in the Premier League table.

United's overall valuation (£582.03m) is some way off City's (£916.92m), while Arsenal are sixth in the selection with £521.42m. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang leads the way for the Gunners with £50.4m, which is significantly lower than the top players in the list of clubs above Mikel Arteta's side in this selection.

Everton, Leicester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers and West Ham United make up the top 10. The fact that the Hammers are 10th is debatable, although there is an argument that the capital side have seriously underperformed this season considering the strength of their squad, which is perhaps good enough for a top-half finish.

Bournemouth and Newcastle United are 11th and 12th respectively, while Aston Villa sit 13th despite their struggles this season. Dean Smith's side spent big last summer following their promotion to the Premier League and Jack Grealish, who continues to be linked with Manchester United, is at the top of their selection with a valuation of £27.45m.

Watford have also underachieved on the field this season and sit 14th, with Brighton & Hove Albion, Southampton and Crystal Palace the next three in this particular list.

Burnley are 18th despite the fact that Sean Dyche's side have had another impressive campaign, while it is not a surprise to see Norwich City 19th as the Canaries have found it difficult to compete this season.

Perhaps the biggest talking point in the entire list is the presence of Sheffield United at the bottom. The Blades have been given a valuation of £117.63m but have arguably been the team of the season thus far. Indeed, Chris Wilder's side are currently seventh in the table, just five points off the top four with a game in hand. Sander Berge is the club's highest-valued player with a price of £18m, while on-loan Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is second with £13.05m.
