John Terry left Chelsea last season and his exit from the club he has spent 22 years at was met with a host of fuss. Now odds-on with bookie BetVictor to move to West Bromwich Albion, the former Chelsea and England captain was mocked for requesting to be substituted off 26 minutes into the Blues' last game against Sunderland. However, in typical Terry fashion, he has since stated that he doesn't care what others think.

Admittedly, the centre-back did deserve a worldly send-off but receiving a guard of honour in the middle of the game on the minute of his shirt number was arguably a tad too far and maybe slightly Americanised. Terry has pretty much won it all with Chelsea and is undoubtedly one of the best defenders the game has ever seen, but there's another legend set to leave their club this summer who isn't receiving half as much fuss.

Wayne Rooney has won it all with Manchester United and is top scorer for both club and country. Much like Terry, at times, Rooney has been a controversial figure on and off the pitch but there is no denying that he is a legend and deserves a lot more credit than he receives. With the Red Devils, Rooney has won five Premier League titles, three League Cups, one FA Cup, the Champions League, most recently of course the Europa League and the FIFA Club World Cup. In addition the all-time United and England top scorer boasts a host of impressive individual honours such as the Young Player of the Year, Player's Player of the Year, Fan's Player of the Year and the Young Sports' Personality of the Year award, to name a few.

Without a doubt, he is a United legend. There have been spells where his loyalty to the club, particularly in 2010, has come into question. Rooney handed in a transfer request and United chiefs feared a move to Manchester City, yet he soon came to his senses and realised United were the club he wished to spend the majority of his career at. The striker more than made up for his transfer request controversy with a stunning overhead kick against City. Joe Hart was left helpless by the acrobatic effort, worthy of winning any game and rightly named Goal of the Year in 2011. It was a goal that helped Rooney get back on track at United and one which of course helped United secure three all-important points against their blue rivals. The 31-year-old this year described that goal as the most important in his career.

Now, after some 13 years at the club and with over 400 appearances and 200 goals, Rooney finds himself falling further and further down Jose Mourinho's attacking hierarchy and it is time for the forward to leave. It is sure to be an emotional farewell, though we are unsure any goodbye could outdo the show Terry put on, but Rooney this week admitted that he has made his mind up about whether to leave United and has "lots of offers" on the table.

Falling down the pecking order at Old Trafford has caused Rooney's international career to falter, and he has been left out of Gareth Southgate's last two squads. At 31, Rooney's 13-year international career may be over, depending on his next move. Bookies suggest that he may make a return to Everton, the club to which he owes a lot having spent his youth career there, and it would be a fantastic way to end his career. Stoke are also said be to interested and there are a number of offers from abroad, including America and new footballing hotbed China.

Wherever Rooney ends up, it is almost certain that he will still be scoring goals, and whoever does acquire his services is getting a fantastic player. John Terry may have bowed out with a league title and a bizarre in-game guard of honour, but Rooney also bowed out of United in some fashion. He was a late substitute in United's 2-0 win against Ajax in the Europa League final and was able to lift the trophy for the Red Devils.
