Sports Mole rounds up Manchester United's injury and suspension news ahead of the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final with Lyon.
Sports Mole

Manchester United are back in action on Thursday evening when they play host to Lyon in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final.

The two teams are locked at 2-2 on aggregate after Lyon scored a last-gasp equaliser in the opening fixture of this tie.

Since then, United have succumbed to a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Newcastle United in the Premier League, leaving them in 14th position in the table.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Man United's injury and suspension news ahead of welcoming Lyon to the Theatre of Dreams.

Matthijs de Ligt

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Matthijs de Ligt has missed Man United's last three matches after he appeared to sustain an ankle injury in Man United's defeat to Nottingham Forest earlier this month. As it stands, it is unclear when the Netherlands international will return.

Toby Collyer

Status: Out
Type of injury: Leg
Possible return date: Unknown

Toby Collyer has been absent from the last four matchday squads. Amorim confirmed last week that the 21-year-old has a leg problem, which is expected to keep him out of action for a "few weeks".

Lisandro Martinez

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Lisandro Martinez has been unavailable since he sustained an anterior cruciate ligament injury in February's Premier League clash with Crystal Palace. It typically takes around six months to recover from such a serious injury, meaning that the Argentine is likely to be out until at least the latter stages of the year.

Amad Diallo

Status: Out
Type of injury: Ankle
Possible return date: Unknown

Amad Diallo has not played since featuring in Man United's FA Cup win over Leicester City on February 7. It was initially thought that he would miss the remainder of the season, but there is hope that he could still have a role to play in the 2024-25 campaign.

Jonny Evans

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Jonny Evans remains sidelined with a muscle problem that has kept him out of action since December. It is currently unclear when the experienced defender will be ready to come back into the matchday squad.

Joshua Zirkzee

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Joshua Zirkzee was helped off the pitch against Newcastle United on the back of suffering what was described as a muscle injury. Amorim has already ruled the Netherlands international out of this contest.

MANCHESTER UNITED'S SUSPENSION LIST

Man United have no players suspended for this fixture.
