Cameroon have revealed that goalkeeper Andre Onana suffered a pelvic injury during the latter stages of their international fixture with Mauritius on Friday.
The 27-year-old was withdrawn in the 81st minute of the 2026 World Cup qualification fixture, which immediately put his chances of facing Libya on Tuesday in severe doubt.
Cameroon have now confirmed that the Manchester United stopper will not be involved against Libya due to the issue that he suffered in the team's last match.
In a statement, Les Lions Indomptables said that medical examinations showed that Onana had suffered a pelvic problem, although the seriousness of the damage is unclear at this stage.
Man United will complete their own tests upon his return to the Carrington training complex, but the Red Devils will now be sweating on his fitness ahead of next weekend's Premier League clash with Everton.
The 27-year-old arrived at Old Trafford from Inter Milan over the summer, and he has faced criticism for some disappointing performances during the 2023-24 campaign.
Onana has conceded 30 times in his opening 18 matches for the club, keeping just six clean sheets in the process, but he managed to produce back-to-back shut-outs in the Premier League against Fulham and Luton Town before the international break.
Should the Cameroonian be unavailable to face Everton, there would likely be a debut between the sticks for fellow summer arrival Altay Bayindir.
The 25-year-old is yet to turn out for the 20-time English champions since his arrival from Fenerbahce, being somewhat surprisingly overlooked in the EFL Cup this season.
Bayindir did play four times for Fenerbahce earlier this season, though, and he could take part in Turkey's Euro 2024 qualifier with Wales on Tuesday.
Man United will also need to assess Marcus Rashford after the England international went off injured against Malta on Friday night following a collision with Trent Alexander-Arnold.
Rasmus Hojlund's fitness is also in doubt for the clash with Everton due to the muscular issue that he picked up during the latter stages of the game with Luton last time out.
Meanwhile, Christian Eriksen, Casemiro, Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo are definitely out of the game at Goodison Park through injury.
Jadon Sancho will also again not be involved due to his ongoing stand-off with head coach Erik ten Hag, which is expected to lead to him leaving when the January transfer market opens for business. body check tags ::
