Manchester United have been handed a huge injury boost ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Sheffield United, with Casemiro featuring for Brazil on Tuesday night.
There were huge concerns over the fitness of the experienced midfielder when he was substituted during his national side's 1-1 draw with Venezuela last week.
Casemiro was subsequently absent from training on Saturday and was widely expected to be unavailable for the contest with Uruguay due to an ankle problem.
Brazil head coach Fernando Diniz told reporters: "Casemiro asked to come off due to a blow to his ankle."
However, the 31-year-old was able to play the full 90 minutes of what proved to be a 2-0 loss for Brazil against Uruguay on Tuesday evening.
Casemiro should therefore be available for selection when Man United resume their 2023-24 Premier League campaign against Sheffield United on Saturday night.
The midfielder has scored four goals and registered one assist in 11 appearances for the 20-time English champions during the 2023-24 campaign.
Casemiro was substituted at the interval of Man United's clash with Brentford last time out, though, having found it difficult to make his mark in the opening 45 minutes.
The Red Devils could also recover Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon for their next Premier League contest, but fellow defenders Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Aaron Wan-Bissaka remain out.
Varane missed out against Brentford due to a minor issue, while Reguilon has been sidelined for the team's last four matches due to a hamstring problem.
In a statement on their official website earlier this week, Man United said that Malacia, Shaw and Wan-Bissaka are still "long-term absentees".
Kobbie Mainoo and Amad Diallo are also unavailable for selection, while Jadon Sancho is still not involved with the first team at the club due to his falling-out with head coach Erik ten Hag.
Man United have won four and lost four of their eight Premier League matches this season to collect 12 points, which has left them in 10th position in the table heading into the next set of fixtures. body check tags ::
