Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes is one of three injury concerns for Wednesday's FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest.
Erik ten Hag's side will be looking for a positive response in their midweek outing after they fell to a 2-1 defeat in Saturday's Premier League home meeting with Fulham.
While last season's runners-up will be bidding to reach the quarter-finals, there is a possibility that they could be without their skipper for the trip to the City Ground.
Speaking ahead of Wednesday's away trip, Ten Hag has confirmed that Fernandes and Raphael Varane are doubts, while Harry Maguire will not be fit to feature in the matchday squad.
"We have some question marks in our squad," Ten Hag told Man United's media team. "Maguire will not be available. Bruno is doubtful.
"Also Rapha Varane is doubtful. We have to watch and see what we will have and then pick a team, with the aim of course [of winning].
"It's an FA Cup game, so it's about win or lose. Black or white. We have to win and that should be our approach."
Fernandes, who seemingly picked up a knock on Saturday, is at risk of missing a game through injury for the first time since arriving from Sporting Lisbon in January 2020.
Ten Hag is already having to contend with a lengthy injury list which features Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia, Mason Mount and Anthony Martial.
Rasmus Hojlund is also set to be absent for a second consecutive game after recently being ruled out for around two to three weeks.
In more positive news, defender Victor Lindelof will be available for the fifth-round tie despite being forced off with a knock before full time in Saturday's loss to Fulham.
Casemiro was withdrawn in the second half against Marco Silva's side due to a head injury, but Ten Hag has confirmed that the Brazilian did not suffer a concussion and will be ready for Wednesday's contest.
"It was bleeding, so he had to come off," the Dutch said in his pre-match press conference. "It was definitely not in our advantage that he couldn't continue the game, but he is available for tomorrow."
The Red Devils will be hoping to continue their impressive form on the road, having won each of their last five competitive away matches. body check tags ::
