Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that James Milner and Naby Keita suffered hamstring and shin injuries respectively during his side's 5-0 win over Manchester United this afternoon.

The Reds recorded a historic victory at Old Trafford as goals from Keita, Diogo Jota and a Mohamed Salah hat-trick handed Liverpool their biggest ever away win over their bitter rivals.

However, it was not an entirely perfect afternoon for the Merseysiders, with Milner limping off in the first half before Keita was stretchered off following a challenge from Paul Pogba which earned the Manchester United man a red card.

When asked about the injuries, Klopp told Sky Sports News: "Milly's a hamstring. He showed to me that something wasn't right but I didn't get it 100% and anyway there was no time before he made the next sprint and it was a proper hamstring [injury].

"Naby we'll have to see. Naby's obviously gone full throttle against the shin and yeah, we have to see. He looks okay in the dressing room, but we'll see a day or two after."

The injuries add to Liverpool's troubles in midfield, with Fabinho, Thiago Alcantara and Harvey Elliott also sidelined for the Reds.

Liverpool are next in action away to Preston North End in the EFL Cup on Wednesday night. body check tags ::
