Manchester United centre-back Lisandro Martinez has revealed that he is back to "100%", with the Argentine recovering from the foot injury that ruled him out of the final months of the 2022-23 campaign.
The 25-year-old enjoyed an impressive first season at Old Trafford following a move from Ajax, featuring on 45 occasions in all competitions, scoring once in the process.
Martinez suffered a fractured metatarsal against Sevilla in the Europa League in the middle of April, though, which saw him miss the final stages of the season.
There had initially been fears that the World Cup winner had damaged his Achilles, which could have potentially ruled him out for the remainder of 2023.
However, Martinez underwent a foot operation shortly after suffering the injury, and he has been working his way back to fitness over the last few weeks.
Taking to Twitter over the weekend, Martinez said that he was "so happy to be back 100%".
Man United's first-team squad are set to return to training at the start of July, and there have been claims that Martinez will be a part of the main group early next month.
The South American is set to be involved in the team's preparations for the new season, which kick off with a friendly against Leeds United in Oslo on July 12.
Man United will also take on Lyon, Arsenal, Wrexham, Real Madrid, Borussia Dortmund and Athletic Bilbao during a busy pre-season, before beginning their 2023-24 Premier League campaign at home to Wolverhampton Wanderers on August 14.
According to The Sun, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag is preparing to put his players through a 'gruelling boot camp' in the early stages of July.
The report claims that the Dutchman is desperate for his team to become one of the fittest in the league next season, and there will be four days of double sessions to start pre-season.
Man United will play three league games in August, following the clash against Wolves with a trip to Tottenham Hotspur, before hosting Nottingham Forest at the end of the month.
September will then begin away to Arsenal, and Ten Hag is said to be convinced that his side can be in the title mix next season despite the strength of Manchester City.
Man United are yet to boost their squad with any new signings this summer, but they are planning to bring in a central midfielder and striker during the current market. body check tags ::
