Marcos Rojo's hopes of returning to the Manchester United first team having suffered a huge blow, with the central defender limping out of his team's Under-23 clash with Reading Under-23s on Friday night.
Rojo has not played since turning out for Argentina at the 2018 World Cup, with the 28-year-old missing United's pre-season preparations with a 'physical problem'.
United boss Jose Mourinho confirmed during Friday's press conference that he wanted Rojo to play the full 90 minutes for the club's Under-23s ahead of a potential first-team return.
Rojo, however, had to be replaced before the hour mark in the Premier League 2 fixture - which finished 1-1 - and looked uncomfortable as he headed straight down the tunnel with a United doctor.
The player, who was linked with a move away from Old Trafford during the summer transfer window, made 41 appearances in all competitions for the 20-time English champions last term.
Summer arrival Diogo Dalot also featured on Friday night as the defender steps up his return from a knee problem.
