Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has said that Harry Maguire is unlikely to be involved in Sunday's Premier League clash with West Ham United, as an injury issue is being managed.

Maguire played the full 90 minutes of Thursday's Europa League semi-final second leg against Athletic Bilbao, as the Red Devils booked their spot in the final of the competition courtesy of a 4-1 victory, which gave them a 7-1 aggregate success.

The experienced defender spent a short time on the turf during the latter stages of the European clash, and Amorim said after the game that the ex-Sheffield United youngster is a doubt to take on West Ham.

Bruno Fernandes was not involved against Brentford in the Premier League last weekend, with the Portuguese being rested, and Amorim has said that the captain is not one of the players carrying a slight issue.

However, Man United are being cautious when it comes to Maguire, as the 32-year-old is suffering with a slight problem.

"Bruno doesn't have the problem of any injury [touches wood] but Harry has," Amorim told reporters ahead of the clash with West Ham. "So we have to manage that but they have to play and it is better to play than to stay out."

Maguire unlikely to be involved in West Ham clash

Man United have two Premier League matches before the Europa League final, facing West Ham on Sunday and then Chelsea on May 16, before tackling Tottenham Hotspur in the European final five days later.

Amorim is again set to ring the changes against West Ham despite the fact that a defeat could leave the Red Devils in 17th position in the Premier League table ahead of a difficult trip to Stamford Bridge.

"I have to make a choice. What is the best for the club, not what is the best for me. I make a choice in this moment. I'm going to try to save all the players because it's really important for us to win the final," added the head coach.

Diogo Dalot, Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven, Lisandro Martinez, Toby Collyer and Joshua Zirkzee are currently on the sidelines for Man United, and all six are again expected to be absent against West Ham.

Will any of Man United's injured players return for the Europa League final?

Zirkzee and Martinez are missing for the rest of the season, but Dalot, De Ligt, Heaven and Collyer all have chances to return before the end of the campaign.

De Ligt could potentially be available for selection against Chelsea next Friday, while returns for Heaven and Collyer in the same match may also be possible, but Dalot's calf issue is being assessed on a day-to-day basis. body check tags ::
