Manchester United will have Raphael Varane back in their squad for Saturday's clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Marcus Rashford has emerged as a doubt for the Premier League contest.

Varane has been on the sidelines since the middle of March with a foot injury, and it had initially been feared that the former France international would miss the rest of the season.

However, the 30-year-old has made excellent progress in his recovery, and he will be able to return for the fixture against Wolves at Old Trafford.

Rashford is a doubt for the game against Julen Lopetegui's side, though, with the England international requiring a late fitness test on a leg problem.

"He has a problem, an injury on his leg, so he is a big question mark for tomorrow," Ten Hag told reporters during his press conference on Friday. "But we are happy Rapha Varane is back. [Rashford] is doubtful, more than doubtful. So [there is] a big question mark."

Rashford has been in excellent form for the 20-time English champions during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring 29 goals and registering 11 assists in 53 appearances in all competitions.

Man United had been in a comfortable position in the Premier League table in terms of a top-four finish, but they are now just one point ahead of fifth-placed Liverpool, albeit with a game in hand.

Ten Hag's side have suffered 1-0 losses to Brighton & Hove Albion and West Ham United in their last two matches, and they will now be bidding to return to winning ways on home soil.

Alejandro Garnacho will also bidding to be involved against Wolves, having returned to the bench for the clash with West ham after recovering from an ankle injury.

"He has one more week training, definitely," Ten Hag added when questioned on the youngster. "Yeah, so he is available and we have seen he can bring something extra in the team."

The Man United head coach is also hopeful that a week off has allowed the team to 'rest, reload and recharge' following a hectic schedule.

"We had a week and we needed it, to make a rest, to reload, recharge. To get the energy back, because we had a lack of it in both games, in the last two games. I see a lot of energy, joy on the pitch and so we could also work in detail on some facts. So it was good," he said.

"We are convinced in what we are doing, as we had a lot of success and won a lot of games in the way we worked. So the matter of work and the way we played, the structures are really clear but we have to execute them.

"That was the problem in some last games, we have to show 100% discipline in rules and principals. When we do that, we are successful."

Man United will take on Wolves, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Fulham in their final four league games of the season before facing Manchester City in the FA Cup final on June 3. body check tags ::
