Manchester United captain Wayne Rooney could reportedly return to action from injury in this Sunday's Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur at White Hart Lane.
The 30-year-old has been on the treatment table since mid-February with a knee injury, and was always scheduled to play again some time in April.
According to The Independent, the England skipper will have another scan this week and if the outcome is positive, he could be given the green light to feature in this weekend's match.
Anthony Martial and youngster Marcus Rashford have been contributing goals in Rooney's absence, and the striker's place in England's Euro 2016 campaign has also come under question.
There have been suggestions that Rooney should be dropped from the lineup by manager Roy Hodgson due to the in-form Jamie Vardy and Harry Kane.
