Manchester United midfielder Tom Cleverley has revealed that he is 'hopeful' of gaining his first England cap against Italy on Wednesday.
The 23-year-old, who represented Team GB at the Olympics this summer, also reserved special praise for the tournament.
"It was fantastic. I enjoyed every minute of it, it was a bit different. It was good for me, I managed to play six games and feel confident and fit from it. I feel match fit, I played five 90 minutes. It has helped me experience-wise in tournament football," he told reporters.
"I am hoping to train well and hope to win my first cap. It is always an honour to be called up for your country and I am delighted.
"It was a bit of a frustrating season to be injured, but I'm not thinking about that now. It's a massive honour for every footballer [to win your first cap]."
Cleverley made 15 appearances for United last season.
