Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim is reportedly preparing to enter a 'poisonous' culture at the 20-time English champions.

The Red Devils are currently under the interim stewardship of Ruud Van Nistelrooy following the sacking of Erik ten Hag in the closing moments of October.

Since the departure of the Dutchman, Man United have bested Leicester City to reach the quarter-finals of the EFL Cup, before playing out a 1-1 draw with Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

It looked as if United were heading towards a much-needed victory when Bruno Fernandes put the hosts ahead after 70 minutes, however a long-range strike from Moises Caicedo restored parity in the contest.

After 10 matches of the top-flight campaign, Man United are languishing down in 13th place in the league standings, representing their worst-ever start to a Premier League term.

Amorim to enter 'poisonous' atmosphere at Man United?

According to Football Insider, incoming head coach Amorim is set to face serious challenges off the field in the opening weeks of his tenure at the Theatre of Dreams.

The report claims that the culture at Old Trafford is 'poisonous' and that the mood at the Red Devils is currently at an 'all-time low' following decisions by the INEOS regime this year.

Man United's new part-time owners - spearheaded by British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe - made a number of controversial cost-cutting measures over the summer.

Close to 250 staff members at the club were made redundant in a move that is set to save the Red Devils up to £10m annually as they aim to streamline their operations.

Such decisions have gone down poorly with the remaining employees, many of whom prefer working remotely in order to avoid the tense atmosphere on the red side of Manchester.

Amorim's on-field assignment

After completing his duties with Primeira Liga giants Sporting Lisbon, Amorim will commence his work with Man United on November 11, when he will have the international break to work with a section of his first-team squad.

The Portuguese's first competitive fixture in charge of the Red Devils will arrive on November 24 at Portman Road, where newly-promoted Ipswich are likely to pose a tricky test.

Before the start of the festive schedule, Man United will welcome Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt to Old Trafford in the Europa League on November 28. body check tags ::
