Ander Herrera has admitted that he was happy to see his Manchester United teammate Wayne Rooney end his goal drought against Club Brugge last night.
The striker had gone 878 minutes without a goal before he broke the deadlock at the Jan Breydel Stadium, and he later went on to add two more goals to complete his hat-trick.
Speaking to MUTV, Herrera insisted that the captain had still been making contributions to the team, even though he had not been scoring goals.
"Wayne is our captain, our leader, and we are happy for him. When he scores, things are always easier but he is also a team player. He is always helping the team and not thinking only about himself," said the Spaniard.
Herrera also got his name on the scoresheet during the 4-0 victory in Belgium.
