Former Manchester United defender Henning Berg believes that the team are still capable of playing well, but are just suffering from a lack of confidence.
The Red Devils experienced their 10th defeat of the Premier League season under David Moyes when local rivals Manchester City secured a 3-0 win at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
"I have seen these players play so good before, not that long ago," Berg told talkSPORT. "I think it is more a mentality thing.
"They are in this difficult period and you can see they are lacking a little bit of confidence, they are lacking a little bit of belief in what they are doing, and they feel under pressure."
United are seventh in the league table, 12 points adrift of a Champions League place.
