Michael Carrick has paid tribute to departing Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic following the defender's last home game for the club.
Vidic, who is joining Inter Milan this summer, came on as a first-half substitute at Old Trafford on Tuesday as United beat Hull City 3-1 in the Premier League.
As his eight-year spell at the Theatre of Dreams comes to an end, Carrick believes that Vidic is one of the best defenders that the club has ever had.
"We have to celebrate the service he's given the club for so long, having achieved so much," the midfielder told MUTV.
"He's a leader and one of the best defenders the club has had. It's sad that he's leaving because he'll be missed as he's a top player and an important part of the squad. Sometimes you've got to move on and we respect that."
United end their Premier League campaign on Sunday when they make the trip to Southampton.
