Real Madrid defender Fabio Coentrao has revealed that he is hoping to 'forget this year' and enjoy a more prosperous 2014.
A loan move to Manchester United broke down on the final evening of the August transfer window, while injuries have limited his appearances for club and country this season.
The Portuguese has also been forced to deal with the death of his father, who passed away in November following a long illness.
"I just want to forget about this year and I have good reasons for that. I've been through seven months of suffering. As my head hasn't been right, the rest of my body hasn't either," he told Abola.
"I want to get myself back to full strength, help Real Madrid achieve their objectives and for Portugal to at least reach the level we did in the 2010 World Cup."
Coentrao joined Madrid from Benfica in 2011.
