Dermot Mee could reportedly make his Manchester United debut against Leicester City on Sunday evening, with Andre Onana viewed as a major doubt for the clash at the King Power Stadium.

Man United have been without the services of number two and number three goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton in recent weeks due to unspecified fitness problems.

Various reports have claimed that Onana has been suffering with an illness ahead of the game against Leicester, making him a major doubt for the game with Ruud Van Nistelrooy's side.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Onana will have a late fitness test, having revealed to the club that he was felling unwell on Sunday morning, which could lead to either Mee or Elyh Harrison featuring between the sticks.

Mee is believed to be the likeliest to be called upon if Onana does indeed miss out, with the 22-year-old featuring on the bench against Real Sociedad in the Europa League on Thursday night.

Mee 'could make Man United debut' against Leicester

The Englishman has not made a senior appearance since September 2022, when he played four times on loan at National League side Altrincham, so it would be a huge ask for him to feature in the Premier League.

Harrison, on the other hand, made 18 appearances on loan at Chester FC earlier this season.

Onana's fitness has been excellent for Man United since his arrival from Inter Milan in summer of 2023, not missing a single Premier League game due to illness or injury, but that record is seemingly now in doubt.

The Cameroonian has only kept eight clean sheets in 39 appearances for the Red Devils during the 2024-25 campaign, and there are currently question make surrounding his long-term future at Old Trafford.

Onana 'still hopeful' of being involved on Sunday night

According to the Daily Mail, Onana remains hopeful that he will be able to feature between the sticks against Leicester.

The report claims that the stopper's condition 'has improved', and the fact that it is an evening kickoff at the King Power Stadium has increased his chances of being named in the starting side.

Amorim has not disclosed the reasons behind the absences of Bayindir and Heaton, but it is believed that both are carrying injuries which will keep them on the sidelines until April at the earliest.

Man United will be bidding to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they take on Leicester, while they will also face Nottingham Forest and Manchester City in England's top flight before travelling to Lyon for the first leg of their Europa League quarter-final on April 10.
