Paris Saint-Germain winger Angel di Maria has suggested that both injury problems and a lack of Champions League football made it difficult for him to settle at Manchester United.
The 27-year-old joined the Red Devils from Real Madrid for a British record fee of £59.7m in August 2014, but departed Manchester for Paris after just one season, and the Argentinian believes that tough circumstances ruined his time in England.
Speaking to UEFA, di Maria said: "Last year was pretty difficult for me – I couldn't play and my injury was really complicated.
"Not being able to compete in the Champions League after having won it made it a pretty tough time for me.
"Paris is a really nice city. My family has felt very good here from the first day they arrived. That makes it a lot easier for me to focus on football."
Di Maria made 32 appearances for United, scoring four goals.
