Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe expresses his 'disappointment' with their final-day defeat to Manchester United.

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has admitted that his side were "disappointing" during their 3-1 defeat to Manchester United at Old Trafford.

The hosts eased to a straightforward win in the rearranged fixture, and the Cherries boss conceded that his team have plenty to work on over the summer.

"It's been a difficult couple of days. Not ideal for anyone. It was disappointing overall for us. They dominated possession, we struggled to get a stranglehold on the game," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"United were a level above us in most departments. We didn't make it as difficult for them as we could have done. There's lots for us to ponder over the summer."

Despite admitting that their final-day display was lacklustre, Howe insisted that Bournemouth's season has been a success, since they achieved their goal of staying in the top flight.

"It's been a fantastic season. We're still in the Premier League - that was the objective," he added.

"The hard work starts again very quickly. There is work to be done but I don't think we need a major restructuring job."

The result sees Bournemouth claim 16th place in the final table.
