Liverpool defender Martin Skrtel has been charged with violent conduct by the Football Association.
The charge relates to an incident that occurred in the final moments of Liverpool's Premier League clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
In the latter stages, Skrtel was played through on goal, but United goalkeeper David de Gea came to collect as the visitors held on to win 2-1 at Anfield.
The centre-back was seen to stamp on De Gea during the clash, which brought a furious reaction from the Spanish goalkeeper.
Referee Martin Atkinson revealed that he had not seen the incident and therefore the FA have been able to issue retrospective action.
Skrtel has until 6pm on March 24 to respond to the charge.
