Manchester United's Radamel Falcao: 'I don't have any fitness problems'

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao insists that he has no fitness problems and is "happy" to get minutes on the pitch.

Manchester United striker Radamel Falcao has insisted that he "needs" to play regularly and is not suffering with any fitness problems.

The Colombian, who moved to Old Trafford in September from Monaco on a season-long loan, has had an inconsistent start to his United career.

Many have suggested that the Red Devils will decide against sealing a permanent £43m deal for Falcao at the end of the season after manager Louis van Gaal left him out of the side that suffered a 1-0 defeat to Southampton a fortnight ago.

However, the 28-year-old returned to the lineup at the weekend for United's 2-0 win over Queens Park Rangers, and while he failed to score himself, the striker was pleased to get time on the pitch.

"It was 90 very important minutes for me," The Mirror quotes Falcao as saying. "I need to play and I am very happy that I did. Obviously, I really hope to score soon, but the opportunities will come, I am sure of that.

"I am fine. I feel really good. I am playing without any sort of fitness problems. I am very happy with the win. It was a very difficult game but we managed the match well and got the three points."

Falcao has scored three Premier League goals so far this season.
