Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has conceded that he is "one of the few" people who believes that Steven Gerrard is overrated.
The current Liverpool captain is regarded by many to be the best player not only to represent the Anfield-based outfit, but also England.
However, Ferguson has insisted that the 33-year-old tended to struggle to have an impact when he came up against United's midfield pairing of Roy Keane and Paul Scholes.
"I'm one of the few who felt Gerrard was not a top, top player. When Keane and Scholes were in our team, he seldom had a kick," Ferguson wrote in his book, which is to be released on Thursday.
Gerrard recently scored the 100th Premier League goal of his career.
