Manchester United boss Alex Ferguson admits that he was "shattered" by Manchester City's 6-1 victory over United at Old Trafford yesterday.
Goals from Mario Balotelli, David Silva, Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero stunned a 10-man United in what some commentators a calling a 'new era' of English football.
"I'm shattered," Ferguson said after the match. "I can't believe it. It was an incredible disappointment. There's a lot of embarrassment in that dressing room and quite rightly so.
"When the score-line went to 3-1 and 4-1, we should have settled for that. But it's the manner of the defeat - and the goal difference.
"Over the years we've always enjoyed a better goal difference than our rivals but now we're 10 goals short.
"You have to recover and we will. That kind of defeat will make an impact on the players."
Manchester City are now five points clear of United at the top of the Premier League table.
