Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes tells new signing Park Ji-Sung that his career is not over following his departure from Manchester United.

Queens Park Rangers manager Mark Hughes has insisted that a player's career does not end after they have left Manchester United.

The Welshman, who made over 400 appearances for the Red Devils during two spells, was speaking after completing the capture of Korean midfielder Park Ji-Sung from his former club for an undisclosed fee.

Having gone on to win three trophies with Chelsea following his departure from United in 1995, Hughes has told his latest recruit that there is life after Old Trafford.

"Maybe my connections with Manchester United helped in terms of having a similar story. When I left Manchester United and went to Chelsea it was very similar. We were mid-table in the Premier League and the expectations of success was quite low," Hughes told reporters at a press conference in London.

"Then the likes of Vialli and Ruud Gullit came at the same time and during that period we ended a wait for a trophy of around 24 years or so.

"It's a big step to leave Manchester United and I've been through it. It's important to understand that when you leave United it is not about going downwards.

"That's how I viewed it and consequently when I left United I was able to win three more trophies. You should never think that when you leave Man United your career is over."

Park has signed a two-year deal at Loftus Road.
