Paul Ince: 'Every game is must-win for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer'

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince says that "every game" for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side has become a "must-win".

Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Ince has claimed that "every game" for the Red Devils has become a "must-win", demonstrating the pressure on head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United took four points from their first two Premier League games of the 2019-20 campaign against Chelsea and Wolverhampton Wanderers before suffering a 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace last weekend.

The 20-time English champions now face a trip to Southampton on Saturday, and Ince has insisted that his former side have to return to winning ways against the Saints.

"The pressure is back on Ole, which is why I said they needed to hit the ground running," Ince told Paddy Power. "People will be starting to question whether he's the right man for the job. It means that every game, like Southampton, becomes must-win.

"They gave him the job far too hastily for my liking, but you have to be patient with him now he's in, he has to be given time to build his vision. It's about fans managing their expectations of United.

"For years and years United were always up there, challenging for the title, competitive with City, Liverpool, Tottenham etc - but things have changed. Since Sir Alex [Ferguson] left, that's not the same. It's going to be a long building process to get back to anywhere near that level."

Solskjaer, who replaced Jose Mourinho as head coach at the end of December, has won 17, drawn five and lost 10 of his 32 games in charge of United.
