Jesse Lingard has admitted that he feels "more comfortable" playing in the number ten role for Manchester United.
In what has been a breakthrough season for the 23-year-old at Old Trafford, many of his 34 appearances have been made out wide.
However, in recent weeks Louis van Gaal has moved Lingard into more of a central attacking position, much to his approval.
"I enjoy playing in the number ten role. I feel more comfortable, as you can get on the ball and create things," he told United Review.
"You are definitely more involved defensively and, obviously, attacking-wise too. But, even when you're on the wing, you have to get back to defend, so it doesn't really matter where I play. I will still do a job for the team."
Lingard has scored six goals in all competitions this term.
