Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa has insisted that he will not be using the World Cup to try to impress new Old Trafford manager Louis van Gaal.
Kagawa's future in Manchester is in doubt after the arrival of the Dutchman, but the Japan international has revealed that he will be focused on helping his national team perform in Brazil when the tournament gets underway next month.
The 25-year-old is quoted by Kyodo News as saying: "I think everyone knows that I want to do well at the World Cup, and I'm sure everyone else does too.
"But I don't want to get my priorities mixed up here - the important thing is for Japan to win at the World Cup. I'm not using the World Cup as a place to showcase myself for Van Gaal."
Kagawa made 30 appearances in all competitions for United during the last campaign.
