Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has paid credit to his Manchester United rival Wayne Rooney ahead of their derby clash this weekend.
The defender has admitted that he is "happy" to see the England international in form following the 27-year-old's goal against Crystal Palace and a brace in United's 4-2 win over Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League.
"Rooney's form is brilliant," the Daily Star quotes Kompany as saying. "You want to play against top players at their best. That's personally how I feel about it. I'm really happy for Wayne, that he's on top form.
"This is the great thing about the Premier League, you play against top strikers all the time. But there are many players to watch out for in both teams."
The cross-town rivals are both on seven points in the Premier League table, with City sitting above United in fourth place.
