China manager Marcelo Lippi has claimed that Ryan Giggs should look to Sir Alex Ferguson as his coaching inspiration.
Giggs, who played under the legendary Scot at Manchester United, was appointed as Dragons manager in January.
The Welshman, whose only previous experience in the dugout came on an interim basis at Old Trafford, will make his Wales managerial debut against Lippi in the opening match of the China Cup on Thursday.
By contrast, Lippi is in his 16th job of an illustrious coaching career which includes the 1996 Champions League with Juventus and the 2006 World Cup in charge of his native Italy.
"I don't feel I need to give [Giggs] any advice," the 69-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying.
"He had the best coach in Sir Alex Ferguson [at Man United]. He just needs to do what he learned from him.
"He was an extraordinary player, very strong, I really like him. I hope he will become a very good coach as well. I wish him all the best."
After facing China, Wales go on to play either Uruguay or Czech Republic on March 26.
