Manchester United's players and staff are being forced to take a three-hour coach journey to Newcastle after their flight was allegedly cancelled at the final minute.

The 20-time English champions had, according to the Manchester Evening News, been due to board a flight at 11am up to Newcastle ahead of this evening's game at St James' Park.

However, the flight is said to have been cancelled due to 'the weather and technical difficulties', with the club now facing a three-hour coach journey to the north-east.

There is allegedly a chance of snow during the match on Saturday evening, although there have been no indications that the game could be postponed despite the bitterly cold weather.

There had been suggestions that Mason Mount could return to the squad for this weekend's contest, with the attacker back in training on Friday after a muscular issue.

However, he was not pictured with his teammates on their coach journey, and he will therefore seemingly miss out once again, with a return against Chelsea next week a possibility.

Man United head coach Erik ten Hag said during his press conference on Friday that he has been pleased with the team's attacking output of late, with another three goals being registered against Galatasaray on Wednesday, following on from the three against Everton in the league last weekend.

"f you see in the goals we scored lately. In Copenhagen, in Everton, also on Wednesday, in Istanbul, we had great team goals," he told reporters.

"From really having a good plan, giving the players creativity in the positions where they perform best and we scored some great goals.

Ten Hag also insisted that Alejandro Garnacho and Marcus Rashford are capable of playing in the same side despite both wanting to operate off the left.

"You didn't see our games? You didn't see our games? We play against Copenhagen, they are both in the team, we play against Everton, they are both in the team. So now Rashy was suspended," he said.

"But that is your conclusion. Rashy can play from the right and he likes to play from the right. But he can also play through in the middle, and also from the left, so he is really motivated."

Rashford was suspended for Wednesday's 3-3 draw with Galatasaray in the Champions League, but he is back in the squad for the clash with Newcastle United at St James' Park. body check tags ::
