Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund has been named the Premier League Player of the Month for February, becoming the first-ever Danish player to secure the award in the process.

The 21-year-old was in excellent form for the Red Devils last month, scoring five times and registering one assist in his four Premier League outings against Wolverhampton Wanderers, West Ham United, Aston Villa and Luton Town.

Hojlund had to wait until Boxing Day to net his first Premier League goal, but he has now scored in each of his last six appearances in England's top flight.

The Denmark international has been absent from his side's last two Premier League games against Fulham and Manchester City, though, due to a muscular problem.

Hojlund has become the second Man United player to win the award this season, following on from Harry Maguire in November.

"I'm very happy," he told Man United's official media. "Of course, it's a big privilege to get this award, especially with the other contenders who were nominated as well. So yeah, I'm very grateful and happy for the award.

"I always like to say I have the confidence before I go into the game. Of course, you get a little bit more momentum going into the game when you've scored.

"You feel like you're in good form and in a good flow and you just want the next game to come. They can't come fast enough!

"[I'm scoring] all types of goals, but my favourite one probably has to be the chested one against Luton, which I really liked. When you're in a good flow, these things just come more naturally to you, I think.

"I was probably not aiming to put it that well into the goal, but I was quite impressed by my own thought, like trying to get my body towards the goal and trying to see if I could actually get something out of it, which I ended up doing it to perfection, I would say."

Hojlund also spoke about his relationship with Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho in the final third of the field, with the trio impressing during Man United's strong recent run.

"I think, also in training, we're starting to understand each other and each other's patterns and we also have the freedom by the manager to kind of change positions during the game as well," he added.

"I think our strengths suit each other quite well so, yeah, I'm grateful towards them and the rest of my teammates, also from the middle and behind. Like all these sort of things, I just want to get in there in the right positions for the team and try to win something."

Hojlund could make his return from a muscular problem in Saturday's Premier League game against Everton, with Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag set to address the situation during his press conference on Friday afternoon. body check tags ::
