Manchester United have reportedly scrapped their plans to host an end-of-season awards ceremony following a disappointing campaign.

Although COVID-19 enforced a two-year hiatus for the annual awards, the Red Devils have opted against hosting a ceremony at the end of the 2021-22 season.

The club's annual Player of the Year ceremony has reportedly been scrapped, following a poor season that has seen Manchester United fall short of the Champions League places.

According to The Mirror, the players are believed to be too embarrassed to hold the event.

United are set to post their lowest points tally of the Premier League era, while the season also saw Ole Gunnar Solskjaer sacked before Ralf Rangnick took over the reins on an interim basis.

After such a poor campaign, the squad felt uncomfortable staging an end-of-season celebration, although United have run a poll for fans to vote for their Player of the Year, with a new plan to present the award yet to be decided. body check tags ::
