Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata says that the club have to win the Premier League title next season.

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has said that the club have to win the Premier League title next season.

The Reds have endured a difficult campaign and have lost 12 league matches, including seven defeats at Old Trafford.

Their current position of seventh in the table means that they will miss out on a place in Europe, but Mata is confident they will be challenging for trophies again next year.

"There are huge demands here. If you don't win the league one year, you have to win it the next," he told The Guardian.

"We're all responsible, not just the coach. Next season we have to demonstrate that the club has not lost its essence, its mentality or its competitiveness, that Manchester United has not lost its identity."

United face Southampton in their final league match of the season on Sunday.
