Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho brings an end to his war of words with Chelsea boss Antonio Conte, insisting that he does not enjoy feuds with rivals.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has brought an end to his war of words with Chelsea counterpart Antonio Conte, declaring the feud "over".

The two high-profile bosses have had a tense relationship since Conte's arrival in English football, and their rivalry escalated earlier this month as the pair traded insults.

Conte is the latest in a long line of rival managers with whom Mourinho has clashed, but the Portuguese insists that he does not enjoy the conflict with his direct rivals.

"I don't enjoy [them]. When I start [them] I take the responsibilities of that and I've started [them] many times," Mourinho told reporters.

"When I don't start it's quite funny for me to see other people on the other side acting like victims when they're not the victims. But, really, I don't enjoy. That's why for me [the row with Conte] is over.

"Sometimes it's my fault; sometimes it's other managers' fault. In my case, when I think it's my fault and I should behave in a different way, I'm the first one to apologise, like I did with [Claudio] Ranieri when I had the chance. That's when our relations went from bad to good and from good to very good because I was man enough to apologise."

Mourinho and Conte are next due to come face to face when United host Chelsea at Old Trafford on February 25.
