Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has challenged Henrikh Mkhitaryan to replicate his impressive Europa League performance against Feyenoord on Thursday night in the Premier League.
The Armenian international has had a difficult start to his Man United career, with Mourinho believed to be unhappy with the midfielder's application and effort during training.
The summer signing from Borussia Dortmund was handed just his second start of the season in Thursday's Europa League clash with Feyenoord and the 27-year-old starred in his team's 4-0 success.
It is understood that Mkhitaryan is now in line to start Sunday's Premier League clash with West Ham United and Mourinho has called on the attacker to take his impressive performance into domestic football.
"I think now Mkhitaryan just has to replicate this kind of performance in the Premier League," Mourinho told reporters.
"The Premier League is a level higher and he needs to replicate that in the Premier League with more physicality, with more pressure. But the quality we knew - that was why we brought him to the club. He has great quality."
The Feyenoord victory has moved the Red Devils into second position in Group A and left them only needing one point from their final group match against Zorya Luhansk early next month to qualify for the last-16 stage.
