Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has praised Eric Bailly following his man-of-the-match performance in the Community Shield this afternoon.
The 22-year-old helped his side to the first trophy of the 2016-17 season in his maiden competitive match at the club since his summer arrival from Villarreal.
Mourinho was impressed with how Bailly coped with the pace of Leicester's attackers at Wembley, and also gave credit to his defensive partner Daley Blind.
"I think Bailly was the perfect opponent for that because he is as fast as they are. I know the player he is, but you always have a question mark when a player comes to a new level," he told BT Sport.
"But to come to Manchester United and play your first official match at Wembley with these responsibilities, without [Chris] Smalling - he was really good. But I have to say that Daley gave him the stability he also needs because I think defensively we were very OK."
Another of United's summer signings, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, scored the winning goal for United in the season's curtain-raiser.
