Jose Mourinho: Marcus Rashford will "play a lot" at Manchester United

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says that Marcus Rashford will be involved on a regular basis throughout the season.

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has said that he has shown "trust" in Marcus Rashford by signing just one striker during the summer.

The arrival of Zlatan Ibrahimovic has led to suggestions that the teenager will struggle for playing time at Old Trafford, but while acknowledging that the former Paris Saint-Germain forward is currently first choice, Mourinho has insisted that Rashford will play on a regular basis this season.

The 53-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "Marcus will play a lot. I cannot choose competitions.

"I cannot say Zlatan Ibrahimovic doesn't play one single match in the Europa League because that is not the case. I cannot say Marcus doesn't start matches in the Premier League because that is not the case.

"He is a young and talented player. We didn't buy more strikers. We bought one, not two or three or four. If you don't trust him, or want him to play, we buy other strikers. Zlatan is playing and showing why and Marcus is striker number two at the moment. For an 18-year-old boy, he is amazing."

Rashford scored eight goals in 18 games towards the end of the last campaign but he has failed to feature in either of United's first two Premier League games this season.
