Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho reportedly refused to work with club legend Ryan Giggs at Old Trafford due to his extra-marital affair with his brother's wife.
Giggs worked with David Moyes and Louis van Gaal after hanging up his boots following a trophy-laden 24-year career at the club which saw him make 963 appearances across all competitions.
The Welshman had been touted as a possible future United manager before Mourinho's arrival, but he left the club when the Portuguese boss was appointed in 2016.
The Times reports that chief executive Ed Woodward was eager to keep Giggs at Old Trafford, but Mourinho felt that his affair with his brother's wife proved that he could not be trusted.
Mourinho was sacked by United yesterday with the team sitting sixth in the Premier League table, 19 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.
Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer has since been appointed as caretaker boss until the end of the season, with Mike Phelan also returning to the club as his assistant.
