John O'Shea has said that Sunderland must adopt a "siege mentality" if they are to climb from the bottom of the Premier League table.
The Irish defender moved to Sunderland from Manchester United and has swapped a life at the top of the table for one in danger of sinking into the relegation zone.
"Nine times out of ten we were winning at United. It's not going to be the case at most clubs, but what we have to do is get the same siege mentality," O'Shea said.
"Approach every game the same way, prepare correctly and we'll be OK. If we carry on as we are we'll win more games than we lose."
Sunderland are currently 15th in the Premier League, with 11 points from 12 games.
