Premier League duo Michael Owen and Charlie Adam have given their best wishes to Darren Fletcher on social media site Twitter.
It was announced earlier today that the Scotland and Manchester United man was taking an "extended break" from football because of a chronic inflammatory bowel condition.
United teammate Owen tweeted: "Wishing Fletch all the best in his recovery. #topbloke."
Scottish midfield partner Charlie Adam, of United's arch rivals Liverpool, added: "Gd luck to my scotland team mate darren fletcher in his recovery."
Rio Ferdinand and Scotland manager Craig Levein have also passed on well wishes to the 27-year-old.
