Manchester United will reportedly be without Wayne Rooney in today's final game of the Premier League season at West Bromwich Albion.
Rooney has been given permission to sit out the trip as wife Coleen is due to give birth to the couple's second child, according to Press Association Sport.
The England striker's future at Old Trafford is unclear after it was confirmed that he had asked for a second transfer request in three years ahead of last week's victory over Swansea.
When confirming that the request has been denied, Ferguson advised Rooney to get away during the summer and think again about his decision.
Ferguson, who is taking charge of his 1500th and final game at The Hawthorns today, did, however, say that the issue surrounding the 27-year-old's future is no longer his problem and must now be dealt with by his successor David Moyes.
