England and Manchester United star Wayne Rooney has suggested that his former teammate Cristiano Ronaldo is more concerned about earning personal honours as opposed to winning trophies in a team effort.
The pair played together at Old Trafford before Ronaldo, who won this year's Ballon d'Or, made an £80m switch to Real Madrid in 2009.
"I'm not a player who needs [to win] individual awards like Cristiano Ronaldo," ESPN quotes Rooney as saying. "He has to have that and you admire him for that.
"I'm more about winning things as a team. You can see how he is. He wants his moments. It's more important for me to win trophies as a team."
Rooney is currently preparing for England's World Cup opening Group D clash against Italy on Saturday in Manaus, while Ronaldo's Portugal side will take on Germany on Monday.
