Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has revealed that Jadon Sancho and Edinson Cavani will join up with the squad next week ahead of their Premier League opener with Leeds United.
Sancho is yet to train with his new side following his involvement in Euro 2020 for England, while Cavani represented Uruguay at this summer's Copa America and has not yet made the trip back to England.
There were suggestions that Sancho could make his debut against Everton in the team's final pre-season friendly of the summer on Saturday, but Solskjaer has revealed that the former Borussia Dortmund attacker and Cavani are due to link up with the squad next week.
"Hopefully they'll be fit when they come back in with us," Solskjaer told the club's official website. "They're due to come in after the weekend. There are different circumstances as to why they haven't joined us yet, but it's a long season and they had to have a little more time off."
Man United will open their 2021-22 Premier League campaign against Leeds United at Old Trafford on August 14 before ending the month with clashes against Southampton and Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The Red Devils are yet to confirm a deal for Raphael Varane, but the France international is now believed to be in Manchester ahead of signing a long-term contract at Old Trafford. body check tags ::
