Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford will reportedly be among 15 first-team Manchester United players to start pre-season training with the club on Monday morning.
Speaking last month, new Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag revealed that the team would officially begin their pre-season on June 27, although the players involved for their countries during the recent international break would have a longer period of recovery.
"We will start pre-season on 27 June and I will get a few of the squad, of the individual players. Not all the players will be coming in [on 27 June], because the ones who play internationals will have a longer break, because they play longer in this current season," Ten Hag told MUTV.
According to the Manchester Evening News, a group of 15 senior players will report to the club's Carrington base on Monday morning for the start of pre-season.
The report claims that Sancho and Rashford will both be in attendance, as neither player were included in the England squad for the recent UEFA Nations League fixtures.
Sancho found it difficult to show his best form for the Red Devils last season following a move from Borussia Dortmund, managing only five goals and three assists in 38 appearances.
Rashford, meanwhile, only managed five goals and two assists in 32 outings last term, and the Englishman was believed to be considering his future at Old Trafford in the second half of the campaign.
Ten Hag is said to be keen to work with Rashford, though, with the Dutchman allegedly believing that he can help the 24-year-old return to his best form.
Goalkeepers David de Gea, Tom Heaton and Dean Henderson are also expected to be present on Monday, despite the latter allegedly closing in on a move to Nottingham Forest.
Seven senior defenders - Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Victor Lindelof, Eric Bailly, Phil Jones, Axel Tuanzebe, Brandon Williams and Luke Shaw - are also set to start pre-season on Monday.
Meanwhile, Donny van de Beek, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Everton, is expected back alongside Amad Diallo and Anthony Martial.
Diallo spent the second half of the 2021-22 campaign on loan at Rangers, while Martial joined Sevilla on loan in January, and both players found it difficult to make a serious impression.
Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, Scott McTominay and Cristiano Ronaldo will be among those absent on Monday, with the next group set to return in July.
Man United will kick off their preparations for the 2022-23 season with a friendly against Liverpool on July 12, while they will also take on Melbourne Victory, Crystal Palace, Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano during pre-season.
The 20-time English champions, who are said to be closing in on a deal for Barcelona's Frenkie de Jong, will then open their new Premier League campaign at home to Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7. body check tags ::
