Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has claimed that goalkeeper David de Gea is "out of order" for 'losing focus' due to the speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid, but with five days to go before the window closes, a transfer is yet to materialise.
De Gea has not featured in any game for United this season as manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that the shot-stopper is not in the right mental state to play.
During BT Sport's broadcast of United's 4-0 win over Club Brugge in the Champions League last night, Scholes said: "How can you lose focus? That's the thing for me. He is getting paid by this club, it is a brilliant club.
"They paid a lot of money on a young keeper to give him this chance. If the manager is right and says he has lost focus then yeah, I think he is out of order.
"He should be in that team playing. If it wasn't for him last year, they probably wouldn't be in this position tonight so they have to thank him for that."
Summer signing Sergio Romero has so far been preferred in goal.
