Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has confirmed that Bastian Schweinsteiger was absent from today's training session because he "needed a recovery day".
The 31-year-old's omission had resulted in suggestions that he could also miss tomorrow's Champions League group clash against PSV Eindhoven.
However, Van Gaal has hinted that the Germany international may yet feature against the Dutch champions at Old Trafford.
"He needed a recovery day but that doesn't mean he can't play [against PSV]," the United boss told reporters.
Schweinsteiger, who joined the Red Devils from Bayern Munich in the summer, has made 20 appearances in all competitions this term.
