Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani reportedly has no plans to increase his £5bn offer to purchase Manchester United from the Glazer family.

Last November, the Glazers revealed that they were open to entering into discussions over a sale of the club, and Sheikh Jassim has emerged as the favourite to complete a takeover alongside British billionaire Sir Jim Ratcliffe.

The process has stalled in recent months, though, amid suggestions that the American owners are considering taking the club off the market.

Ratcliffe is allegedly considering making an offer for a minority stake in Man United, which would see the Glazers remain in majority control and prove hugely unpopular with the club's fans, who continue to protest against the owners.

Sheikh Jassim's most recent offer, which is believed to be around £5bn, is said to remain on the table, but the Glazers are thought to want at least £6bn.

According to The Times, Sheikh Jassim will not increase his latest offer despite suggestions that Ratcliffe is now moving into pole position.

The report claims that the Qataris view the Ratcliffe speculation as an attempt to force them to increase their bid to complete a full takeover of the 20-time English champions.

Sheikh Jassim and his party allegedly believe that £5bn is a fair price considering the amount of extra funds that will be needed to improve Old Trafford and the club's training ground.

Man United once had the best in class in terms of their stadium and training facilities, but that is no longer the case, and Sheikh Jassim has already said that he will invest in the infrastructure.

Ratcliffe is thought to be considering offering £1.5bn for 25% of the club, with the Brit potentially completing a full takeover at a later date.

There is believed to be a split within the Glazer family when it comes to the best course of action at this stage.

As well as the uncertainty behind the scenes, Man United also have severe problems on the field, with the team losing six of their 10 matches in all competitions this season.

Tuesday's 3-2 defeat to Galatasaray in the Champions League made it back-to-back home losses, and there is now huge pressure on head coach Erik ten Hag to deliver a positive result in the team's final game ahead of the international break, which comes at home to Brentford on Saturday afternoon. body check tags ::
