Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed that Harry Maguire has been handed the captain's armband at Old Trafford.
The change midway through the season comes as a result of Ashley Young's likely exit in the next 24 hours, with the full-back expected to sign for Inter Milan.
However, with Maguire having filled in for the veteran on numerous occasions since his summer arrival from Leicester City, Solskjaer has suggested that it will be a routine transition for the England international.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Solskjaer said: "Harry has been wearing the captain's armband and he will keep wearing it. He's come in and been a leader in the group. I've been impressed by his leadership skills.
"Everything about him tells me he's a leader. He's part of a group that we've had that have been leading this young group."
The 26-year-old has already made 29 starts for United in all competitions this season.
